DHILLUKU DHUDDU 2 MOVIE REVIEW
Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 Review: The advantage of horror-comedy movies is that a few hilarious scenes featuring some comedians and decent numbers of spooky scenes could do the trick. Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 is one such attempt where the one-liners of Santhanam and Rajendran are given more emphasis than an engaging story which holds one’s attention.
Viji (Santhanam), an autorickshaw driver and his uncle (Rajendran), give sleepless nights to their neighbours, thanks to their irritating drinking habits. Karthik, (TM Karthik), one of their neighbours, hatches a plan to tame them with the help of a few others. A doctor, he gets the shock of his life when he tries to express love for his colleague Maya (Shrita). Karthik understands that there’s something eerie pertaining to her and tries to make Viji fall for her. Viji then goes to Maya’s home at Kerala to seek permission from her family to marry her and lands at a place where superstitions and ghostly presence rule the roost.
The plot is too predictable for a horror-comedy, and the flashback story which is mandatory in such a premise, too, has nothing new to offer. But the chemistry between Santhanam and Rajendran saves the show, thanks to their timely counter dialogues. Urvasi, who makes a presence in the later half of the movie, too, give good company to Santhanam, making some of the scenes quite enjoyable.
Santhanam has rectified the mistakes made in last outing, and has portrayed a character catering to his expected audience. He has done some stunts this time, too, but doesn’t look much comfortable with romance, thanks to an underdeveloped track. Rajendran proves why he is still in demand even after essaying similar roles in many movies. While many comedy scenes hit the target, some of them fail to do so. The spooky scenes in the pre climax portions have ample fun elements, though it’s a bit stretched which affected the mood to a small extent. A better story and a convincing romantic track would have helped the movie score more.
