Nerkonda Paarvai’s content will be relevant till Men and Women exist: Rangaraj Pandey
Popular TV host Rangaraj Pandey is making his acting debut with Nerkonda Paaravai, the Tamil remake of the Bollywood film Pink. The veteran journalist, who considers being part of this project an honour, is contented with the way the film has shaped up. He opens up, “Of late, we have come across many movies that claim to have a message, and yet, they hardly leave any impact. I can say Nerkonda Paarvai would do full justice to the tag ‘Message-Oriented Film’, but without being preachy. It has various entertaining moments which will satisfy different sections of viewers.”
For Pandey, shooting the court scenes in the film was a lively experience, thanks to the presence of all the artistes on set — even when they weren’t required. He says, “It’s been a while since Tamil cinema has had a courtroom drama. So, the ambience of a court was really felt throughout the shooting and that helped me enact the role of a lawyer.”
What was his first response when he was approached by the makers? “To be honest, I didn’t have a reason to say “no”. I had seen Pink much earlier and had loved it. Moreover, I liked both the films of Vinoth — Sathuranka Vettai and Theeran Adhigaram Ondru. Thala Ajith playing the lead role in a project produced by Boney Kapoor — I had all reasons to say “yes”. I would say choosing me to play such a crucial role was a big challenge for them because it is a character that requires a veteran artiste to pull off,” he avers.
On whether the film would satisfy Ajith’s huge fan base, he asserts, “The trailer, which has a fight and a song, itself conveys that the movie has been made to reach all kinds of audience. Though it deals with a contemporary subject, Vinoth has moulded the plot in such a way that hardcore Ajith fans, too, will love it. The topic discussed in the movie will be relevant even after 15 years or till the time men and women exist. It will start healthy debates and leave a strong impact on our society.”
