It’s Finally Prashanth to step into the Tamil remake of National Award Winning Film #Andhadhun!

The remake rights of the acclaimed Bollywood film, Andhadhun, was much sought after in Kollywood with stars like Dhanush and Siddharth expressing their interest in doing the Tamil version. However, it is now actor Prashanth who will be playing the lead in the remake of the Sriram Raghavan film, which starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. The film won three National Awards recently — for Best Actor, Best Hindi Film and Best Adapted Screenplay.

“Almost every production house and star in our industry was trying to get the remake rights for this film. But I’ve been in talks with the Bollywood production house since its release because the script is a powerful one. Every time a star expressed interest, the rate shot up, but in the end, since I’ve a good rapport with the production house, having bought their Special 26 rights, I managed to get the rights for this film as well,” says Thiagarajan, Prashanth’s father, and producer. Interestingly, the father-son duo has already remade a Sriram Raghavan film — Johnny Gaddaar, but the film, Johnny, did not do well at the box office.

He reveals that while Prashanth will play the lead role, the rest of the cast and crew, including the director, is yet to be finalised. “We are hoping to finalise them in a week or so as we are planning to go on floors soon,” adds the producer. He feels that Prashanth will be very apt for the role because he is a pianist in real life as well. “Prashanth has passed grade 4 in piano at the Trinity College of London. We have a grand piano in our home, and he plays on it almost daily. This role is going to be a cakewalk for him,” says Thiagarajan.

Meanwhile, he informs that another film that he had announced in April, starring Prashanth and Anukreethy V.A.S, who won the fbb Colors Femina Miss India World 2018 title, and directed by A Venkatesh, will also begin its shoot soon. “Since I was busy trying to bag the remake rights of Andhadhun, we’d put that project on hold. Now, we are hoping to do both almost simultaneously,” he adds.
