Bollywood bid an adieu to Sridevi just a few minutes back as the actress’ last rites were performed at the Pawan Hans Crematorium at Vile Parle.
Veteran actress Sridevi’s funeral pyre has been lit, surrounded by a grieving Kapoor family and members of the film fraternity.
Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who was the first to hint about Sridevi’s demise, was one of the early entrants at the Pawan Hans Crematorium.
Also present were Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif, Chunky Panday, Arjun Rampal, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Kiara Advani Randhir and Rajeev Kapoor and Dia Mirza among others.
Sridevi made her final journey from the Celebration Sports Club to the Pawan Hans Crematorium, in a flower laden truck. Boney, Arjun and Anil Kapoor were inside with the veteran actress’ mortal remains in the decorated carrier.
She was decked up in a red and gold kanjeevaram saree, with elaborate traditional jewellery and make-up.
And with the lighting of the funeral pyre, a glorious era in Indian cinema comes to an end. Though the Seema of Mr India, Pooja/Pallavi of Lamhe, Kaajal of Judaai and Bollywood’s beloved Chandni, who lit up the lives of millions of her fans, will continue to live on.
